Two killed, 20 injured in 18 vehicle pileup on I 790

A massive accident this morning on interstate 790 involving 14 cars and four tractor trailers claimed the lives of two motorists and injured 20 others, four of them critically. Preliminary reports from Sgt. Albert Wei of mytown police department counted the number of vehicles involved at 18, four of which were tractor trailers.

The accident is still under investigation, but police believe it started with a collision between two tractor trailers at 6:45 am on northbound interstate 790, setting off a massive pileup that closed both sides of the interstate this morning and forced a rerouting of all traffic to interstate 690 until the scene is cleared, and there is no word on when the highway will reopen. Fire chief Tony Sullivan said he has never seen an accident this bad in his 18 plus years on the department, “It looked like something out of a war zone.” he said when describing what he saw when he arrived on scene. Resources from the mytown fire department and four neighboring cities, including the “Life Flight” helicopter, were called in to assist the victims of the wreck, three of which had to be cut from their mangled vehicles. The names of those killed in the crash, as well as those injured have not yet been released.

Hello, my name is Tom and I'm a coffeeholic...

Hi, I'm Tom Bolan and this is my first journalism class at Anoka-Ramsey as well as the first class I've ever taken online. I'm a little concerned that I'll miss something because I've never taken one of these web only classes, but I'm sure I'll pick it up quickly.

I'm an excellent student, full time, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, I work part time, I am married and have three daughters ages four, two and one. I plan on eventually getting a masters degree in communications and ultimately a job in marketing or advertising, but I haven't ruled out being a writer, lawyer, journalist, public relations expert, or even getting into politics. The possibilities are endless for me, but I know I want to keep myself in a field where I can make measurable impacts and deal with people on some level. Communication between individuals, as well as to large audiences, is fascinating to me and I hope this class will help me to better understand the media and how that type of communication is used effectively to inform people about the world around them.

I've never blogged about anything, and don't think I've even read one, but I've been told it's something I should look into before, and here I am ad I'm ready to get things started.
