A massive accident this morning on interstate 790 involving 14 cars and four tractor trailers claimed the lives of two motorists and injured 20 others, four of them critically. Preliminary reports from Sgt. Albert Wei of mytown police department counted the number of vehicles involved at 18, four of which were tractor trailers.
The accident is still under investigation, but police believe it started with a collision between two tractor trailers at 6:45 am on northbound interstate 790, setting off a massive pileup that closed both sides of the interstate this morning and forced a rerouting of all traffic to interstate 690 until the scene is cleared, and there is no word on when the highway will reopen. Fire chief Tony Sullivan said he has never seen an accident this bad in his 18 plus years on the department, “It looked like something out of a war zone.” he said when describing what he saw when he arrived on scene. Resources from the mytown fire department and four neighboring cities, including the “Life Flight” helicopter, were called in to assist the victims of the wreck, three of which had to be cut from their mangled vehicles. The names of those killed in the crash, as well as those injured have not yet been released.
Nice story, great lead and tight details. You should write for the school paper.
ReplyDeleteI like your tight information, and you create some new words. It makes your new more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI tried to use only the important info to make it relatively compact. I screwed up the lead though. I meant to have the second sentence of it be the first sentence in the body of the story. Oh well, next time I'll pay more attention to what copy I'm uploading I guess.
